Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfig Al-Rabiah has inaugurated the first edition of the Non-Profit Sector Forum in Service of Pilgrims at the Makkah Chamber, the forum’s host sponsor, with representatives from government agencies, non-profit organizations, the private sector, and donors in attendance.
In his address, Al-Rabiah highlighted the growing role of the non-profit sector in serving pilgrims, noting that the number of associations has increased fiftyfold over the past five years, emphasizing that the sector has become a fundamental component of the Hajj and Umrah services ecosystem.
He underscored the ministry’s commitment to empowering the sector as a key pillar through the non-profit sector strategy for Hajj and Umrah (2026–2030) to enhance its effectiveness in enriching the pilgrim experience.
The forum featured several panel discussions addressing key themes, including the aspirations and desired impact of the non-profit sector in serving pilgrims, as well as funding, partnerships, and social responsibility.
The forum seeks to strengthen the institutional capacities of non-profit organizations, improve their operational readiness, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and empower endowments and donors to adopt innovative funding and investment models that ensure the sustainability of their impact in serving pilgrims. It also aims to promote strategic partnerships between government entities, non-profit organizations, and the private sector to maximize collaboration and effectiveness.
