The General Transport Center of the Royal Commission for the Holy City of Makkah and the Holy Sites announced the activation of the operational plan for the holy month of Ramadan, which aims to reduce congestion in the central area, increase capacity by increasing the number of buses on some routes, reduce the waiting period between trips, and increase operational readiness. Coordinating with security authorities to achieve safety standards.
The operational plan covers all main and internal roads and connects the neighborhoods to the central area.
The bus project provides 438 stations and stopping points, with the number of buses reaching 400, operating on 12 routes, with a number of drivers reaching 900, providing service to more than 125 million beneficiaries, in more than two million trips, according to the Saudi News Agency (SPA).
The General Center for Transport confirmed its keenness to increase the number of frequent buses on some routes to confront congestion in the central area, and to increase the number of buses on other routes to meet the increasing demand during the holy month of Ramadan, and to implement them within the geographical boundaries of the operational routes approved for the Mecca Bus Project.
For its part, the Royal Commission for the Holy City of Makkah and the Holy Sites called on all citizens, visitors, pilgrims and residents to benefit from the services of “Mecca Buses” during the holy month of Ramadan, and to follow the instructions and guidelines issued by the concerned authorities to ensure their safety and comfort.
On the other hand, the Royal Commission’s General Center for Transport today launched the trial version of the “Guidance Guide for Comprehensive Transport Plans” platform, with the aim of unifying and integrating the efforts of the transport system in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and enabling various users to view transport plans and make appropriate decisions according to their needs, whether They were from the concerned authorities, Umrah pilgrims or pilgrims.
The trial operation of the platform began during the current month of Ramadan 1445 AH, which helps improve the transportation experience within Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and helps the concerned authorities to make appropriate decisions to develop transportation plans and provide the desired security, safety, and comfort to serve the guests of God.
