The second edition of the “Media Oasis” was launched today, coinciding with the holding of the major annual Hajj symposium, which continues until the 4th of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH, corresponding to June 22, 2023 AD, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jeddah.
The Oasis is one of the new initiatives of the Ministry of Information launched by His Excellency the Minister of Information, Mr. Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari, with the aim of changing the concept of media coverage, and employing technology to achieve more creativity and innovation in media coverage, which keeps pace with national events and major occasions taking place in the Kingdom.
The Media Oasis aims to provide advanced media services to media professionals and visitors, benefiting 50 local, Arab, Islamic and international media outlets, and more than 200 local and international journalists and media professionals. The Oasis enables them to learn about the Kingdom’s efforts in serving the guests of God, as it participates in the major Hajj symposium. About 80 countries, more than 12 ministers, many sectors and media institutions, with an expected attendance of more than 2,000 visitors.
The "Media Oasis" for the Hajj season this year is being held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Royal Commission for the City of Makkah and the Holy Sites, and the Program for Serving the Guests of God.
The “Media Oasis” includes an exhibition in which 11 government and private entities participate, narrating the most prominent achievements provided to serve the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors and their future projects in the Holy Sites, through advanced technical services and display screens, with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the Makkah City Development Authority, and the Medina Region Development Authority. Al-Munawwarah, the Heritage Authority, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the Knowledge Economic City, NSK, and Kadanah Development and Development Company, in order to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The “Media Oasis” contains a space that can accommodate 30 media professionals, enabling them to perform editing and media publishing work, in addition to television studios, a main display screen, and 10 other side screens, through which the work of the Grand Hajj Symposium and snapshots of the major transformation it is witnessing are broadcast. Technical and logistical services in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Medina, in addition to exhibitions for participating entities, which seek to provide many media services to the media and media professionals. The oasis also enables its visitors, media professionals and journalists from various parts of the world, to benefit from the services of the Virtual Hajj Media Center (VPC), through A specialized team explains the characteristics of the platform and the media services it provides to journalists and media professionals registered with it.
More than 900 registered male and female media professionals, representing various local and international news agencies, channels, and newspapers, benefit from the VPC platform, and they obtain the electronic media services provided by the platform, including news, photographs, video clips, and articles, in addition to participating in virtual press conferences, and fulfilling special media requests. ; Such as conducting a meeting with an official, statistics, numbers, data and specific information.
It is worth noting that the first edition of the Media Oasis was held in conjunction with the 32nd Arab Summit in the city of Jeddah during the period from 18 to 19 May 2023.
