“Ikram Makkah” distributed more than 115 tons of surplus food during last August

Ikram Food Preservation Association in Mecca revealed that the volume of surplus food during the month of August amounted to more than 115 tons, with an estimated value of more than three million riyals, as the number of beneficiaries reached about 950 thousand beneficiaries.
The director of the association, Ahmed Harbi Al-Matrafi, explained that the association intensifies its efforts during the annual and weekly holiday seasons in an attempt to fill the need for wasting points to preserve this food, as well as the people’s need for food and the lack of resources.
He added that the perception that comes to people's minds when talking about surplus food is that it is unclean or not good food, but in reality, the largest amount of this surplus is food that is completely intangible, and was prepared and was not presented to people due to increased quantity or poor transportation conditions. Or others.
Al-Matrafi called on society to preserve the structure of the nation and society by maintaining food security and contributing to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and taking advantage of this to gain good deeds by feeding people.
It is noteworthy that more than 1,200 volunteers participated in programs to preserve blessings and provide them to those in need, in order to activate the role of volunteerism in society and educate them and raise awareness of their family members through them.
