On Thursday, in the corridors of the King Fahad National Library, organized by the Government Communication Center at the Ministry of Information and in partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Program for Serving the Guests of God, the work of the “Hajj and Umrah Mediathon” was launched, which continues over a period of 3 days, and its first day begins with the title “Knowledge Day,” and carries a full agenda. With creative and stimulating ideas in an event in which media professionals and interested parties compete to create qualitative initiatives and present a number of knowledge and skill products and events.
At the beginning of the first day of the Mediathon, the qualified teams were welcomed with a presentation entitled “Hello from Mediathon,” and the first live session was titled “This is how we market to cities,” followed by a dialogue session titled “Entrepreneurship in Media.”
Today, the Mediathon also witnessed the first workshops that shed light on “presentation skills,” followed by various enrichment presentations that came with several titles, “Media Friend of Development,” “NEOM and the Media,” and “Documenting the Story of Hajj and Umrah.” At the end of the day, the private guidance phase and the general guidance phase were launched to ask questions and inquiries with a number of local and international specialists.
The Mediathon contributes to developing and enabling innovative projects and solutions to challenges in Hajj and Umrah media, enabling existing officials to access media ideas and innovative creative solutions for the pilgrims’ service system in partnership with entities and individuals.
The Mediathon works to attract ideas, projects and qualitative media initiatives that contribute to the development of Hajj and Umrah media, and enhances the use of digital capabilities and tools in creating media solutions for the sector. It also contributes to raising the level of awareness about the services provided to the guests of God by attracting innovative media projects.
The innovative event is divided into 3 main competition tracks as follows: The creative content creation track: coming up with ideas for projects and initiatives that contribute to developing creative content in the Hajj and Umrah sector, and the media services and facilities track: creating project ideas that facilitate the media support mechanism in covering the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage. Finally, the Languages and Translation track: It specializes in developing projects that enhance the level of media presentation of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage in several languages.
The Hajj and Umrah Mediathon offers guidance sessions with more than 20 mentors from the fields of media, communication, entrepreneurship, innovation, law, technology, Hajj and Umrah, and has received the participation of more than 1,300 ideas registered on the Mediathon electronic portal, of which more than 30 teams have qualified to compete.
