General Authority for Statistics: The total number of pilgrims for the Hajj season 1444 AH reached (1,845,045) male and female pilgrims.

The General Authority for Statistics announced today that the total number of pilgrims this year 1444 AH reached (1,845,045) pilgrims, of whom (1,660,915) pilgrims came from outside the Kingdom through various ports, while the number of domestic pilgrims reached (184,130) pilgrims, both citizens and residents.
The Authority indicated in its statistical results for this year’s Hajj that the number of male pilgrims out of the general total number of pilgrims at home and abroad reached (969,694) pilgrims, while the number of female pilgrims out of the general total number of pilgrims at home and abroad reached (875,351) pilgrims.
Regarding the statistics of pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom, the Authority explained that the number of pilgrims coming from Arab countries reached (346,214), at a rate of (21%). As for pilgrims from Asian countries other than the Arab countries, their numbers reached (1,056,317), at a rate of (63.5%), while the number of pilgrims from countries reached (63.5%). African countries, excluding Arab countries (221,863), representing (13.4%), while the number of pilgrims from European, American, Australian, and other unclassified countries reached (36,521), representing (2.1%).
As for the methods of arrival of pilgrims from outside the Kingdom, (1,593,271) pilgrims arrived via air ports, while (60,813) pilgrims arrived via land ports, while (6,831) pilgrims arrived via sea ports.
The Authority indicated that the number of countries benefiting from the Makkah Road Initiative reached 7 countries, and the number of beneficiaries of this initiative reached (242,272) male and female pilgrims. The travel procedures for all pilgrims benefiting from the initiative were completed after verifying the health requirements, and their luggage was transported from their countries to Their residence directly.
It is noteworthy that the General Authority for Statistics, in issuing statistical data and indicators for the Hajj season of 1444 AH / 2023 AD, relied on administrative records data, considering it the main source of data, which is represented by all government and private agencies concerned with serving the guests of God to provide data according to a unified model that includes a number of elements, as an extension of the statistical approach. Which has been followed during the past three years, and the Hajj Statistics Bulletin shows the total numbers of pilgrims, and their distribution according to gender, nationality, and method of arrival.
It should be noted that the General Authority for Statistics is the only official statistical reference for statistical data and information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and it carries out all statistical work, technical supervision of the statistical sector, design and implementation of field surveys, conducting statistical studies and research, analyzing data and information, and all documentation and preservation work. Statistical information and data covering all aspects of life in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from multiple sources, recording, tabulating, analyzing, and extracting statistical indicators.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the General Authority for Statistics, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, in his name and on behalf of all the Authority’s employees, extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect them - for All means of comfort have been provided for the guests of the Most Gracious, asking God Almighty to accept the pilgrims’ Hajj, and to grant success to all government agencies in the Kingdom to provide distinguished services to the pilgrims of the Holy House of God.
