The "Jeddah-Makkah Direct Road" is a qualitative leap for the road sector in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region

The "Jeddah-Makkah Direct Road" is one of the most important strategic projects to develop the road sector and logistics services in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, which, after its completion, will contribute to reducing traffic density on a number of roads and axes linking Jeddah and Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
The director of the branch of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics in the Makkah region, Engineer Khaled Al-Otaibi, confirmed in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the idea of ​​the road came to facilitate movement between Makkah and Jeddah for a number of vital sectors, including the Hajj and Umrah sector, which aims to reach 30 million pilgrims by the year 2030.
He added that the road project will contribute to serving the pilgrims arriving by air through King Abdulaziz International Airport who wish to complete their journey to Makkah Al-Mukarramah by using the road starting from the Al-Nuzha neighborhood intersection in Jeddah, and ending with the Fourth Ring Road in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, which enhances the integration of the modes of the transportation system in the Kingdom.
Engineer Al-Otaibi explained that the completion rate in the “Jeddah-Makkah Direct Road” project is divided into four stages. The implementation of one stage has been completed, and the final works are underway in the implementation of two stages, where the total completion percentage in the four stages has reached 75%, and work is underway to implement the remaining works in the project, pointing out that The project path was chosen in coordination with a number of concerned authorities in the region to determine the optimal path for the project.
The director of the branch of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region indicated that the project aims, after its completion, to reduce traffic congestion on the “Al-Haramain” Road, the “Old Jeddah-Makkah Road” and the “Prince Muhammad Bin Salman” Corridor, while it will include a number of exits that will serve some governorates in the region. Including "Al-Jamoum" Governorate and its affiliated centers.
